Yoga, Breath & Meditation: Therapeutic Perspectives
3rd International Sowa Rigpa Forum
15–17 January 2027 · Online · In English
How can the teachings of Sowa Rigpa help us understand our bodies, work with our breath and bring greater awareness into everyday life?
Join Dr Nida Chenagtsang and an international community of teachers, practitioners, scholars and students for three days of learning and exchange.
Sowa Rigpa, often translated as “the science of healing,” is the Tibetan tradition of medicine and healing. Its teachings invite us to explore the relationships between body, mind, daily habits and the world around us.
At this Forum, we will explore yoga, breath and meditation through Sowa Rigpa and Tibetan Buddhist traditions, in conversation with other approaches to healing and contemplative practice. Our wish is that these conversations offer encouragement and understanding you can carry into your own life and practice.
WHAT WE WILL EXPLORE
• Yoga of body, speech and mind
• Movement and its place in healing and contemplative practice
• Breath, voice and rLung—the Tibetan understanding of wind or vital energy
• Meditation, wellbeing and the experience of caring for ourselves and others
• How traditional teachings are understood, practised and shared today
THREE DAYS OF LEARNING AND EXCHANGE
15–16 January · Invited presentations and discussion
Opening with Dr Nida Chenagtsang’s introduction to yoga of body, speech and mind, these two days bring together different perspectives on the Forum’s theme. Presentations will be followed by questions and discussion, with space to learn from speakers and fellow participants.
17 January · Graduate presentations
Graduates of Sowa Rigpa training programmes will share their thesis work with the international community. This day celebrates the next generation of practitioners and the questions, experiences and insights they bring to the tradition.
WHO IS WELCOME?
The Forum welcomes Sowa Rigpa students and practitioners, yoga and meditation communities, and anyone curious about Tibetan healing traditions.
You do not need previous Sowa Rigpa study or a religious commitment to join. We welcome thoughtful questions, shared experience and differing perspectives expressed with care and respect.
